Doing business with the Saudis is one of the most immoral acts I have ever seen. Ignoring human rights abuses for filthy lucre is beyond belief. I play the game lovingly but am disgusted with the corporate corruption right before our eyes.
As an avid golfer, I’d prefer that a deal never gets done and most of my golfing friends agree. The PGA places a lot more importance on this than 99% of golfers who see through all this as just another money grab. I actually have enjoyed watching the up and comers playing more than those on the downside of their careers.
Don’t really pay any attention to LIV . The PGA tour regular events (non-elevated) give us a chance to see some new young talent like Potgieter in Mexico. The limited field events showcase the top players. Would really prefer to traditional full field format for all events but anything better than LIV.
Not sure if this is news to anyone but Monahan is full of shit and always has been. He alone screwed the pooch on this deal from the beginning by failing to respond to PIF when the first reached out. All he had to do was invite them in and have them bankroll a series of high end global events and everyone would have benefited.
But no, he got territorial and went scorched earth on the Saudis enlisting media lackeys in the smear campaign.
He keeps bullshitting his way along desperately hanging on to his $23 million annual compensation.
SSG hasn’t invested a dime yet. No money changed hands. It was all just a contingency laden promise to maybe payout sometime in eight years.
The whole Justice Department angle is another fraud. Monahan used a couple grandstanding politicians to try to leverage PIF out. The Justice Department doesn’t really give a shit what a couple hundred millionaire golfers do with each other. How would the public be harmed if LIV and the PGA Tour combined? In fact the public would benefit by seeing all the best players together. To suggest that foreign investment is a stumbling block is laughable on its face considering the monumental foreign investment in vital industries in this country. A dinky little pro golf tour is not even on the radar.
The bottom line is Monahan is a petulant child who badly overplayed his hand. In the process he pissed off the richest government in the world. Yasir doesn’t care. He will wait Monahan out until he has nowhere else to go.

You are now on Monahan’s Christmas card list
