Min Woo Lee will make his fourth straight Masters start in 2025 (Thomas Lovelock/ANGC)
It’s not official until invitations from Augusta National Golf Club start arriving in players’ mailboxes after Christmas, but once Nosferatu speaks it’s unofficially a done deal.
Based on calculations from the online Official World Golf Ranking guru, the year-end projections for the OWGR top 50 will include Australia’s Min Woo Lee at No. 49 and American Lucas Glover at No. 50. That will let them join seven other players further up the year-end ranking in the field for the 2025 Masters.
“BREAKING This is the final end-of-year Top 50 #OWGR projection! These 9 players (not currently exempt) should qualify for @TheMasters!”
The top-50 inclusions bring the qualified Masters field to 85 players. Winners of 14 scheduled PGA Tour events leading up to the Masters as well as anyone otherwise not qualified inside the OWGR top 50 the week before the Masters (on March 31) are the only remaining guaranteed avenues into 2025’s first major championship. Non-American players on LIV or other world tours who sit outside the top 50 will have to rely on the discretion and generosity of the Masters committee for special exemptions.
Christmas will be a little merrier for Lee and Glover, who had to sweat out the last month while the global schedule played out with players trying to bump them out. Glover will slip back inside the top 50 next week after surviving the last potential threat of Christiaan Bezuidenhout needing a top-four finish at last week’s Alfred Dunhill Championship in South Africa.
Lucas Glover has played 10 Masters already from 2006-24 (Chloe Knott/ANGC)
The 26-year-old Lee — brother of LPGA star Minjee Lee — will be making his fourth consecutive appearance at Augusta. He’s made the cut and posted top-25 finishes twice, his best a T14 in his Masters debut in 2022 when he went out in a record-tying 30 on the front nine on Sunday.
The 45-year-old Glover, who won the 2009 U.S. Open at Bethpage Black, will mark his 11th start in the Masters. A six-time PGA Tour winner, Glover has made the cut six times at Augusta and finished T20 twice in 2007 and 2024.
